Our Pledge

Every PAC under the sun promises the metaphorical sun and moon. Too many deliver nothing but empty promises.

 

At Spirit of California, we believe in the California Dream, we believe in dreamers. But, we live in the land of reality.

 

We know the California Dream seems tarnished these days. And we're well aware that too many PACs make crazy promises, raise tons of money, and then spend a fortune on raising more money. (And overhead, and hair-brained pointless campaigns that focus on tired old memes pushed out to the base.)

At Spirit of California, we're all volunteers. We've been involved in big campaigns, and we've personally gone out and knocked on doors for some of the smallest campaigns in the state. Other than minimal overhead --a monthly fee to maintain the website, some accounting software, and a small percentage paid for credit card processing-- all the money we raise is spent promoting our candidates and issues. We don't have a paid staff, we don't pay ourselves, and we don't spend money on our own travel expenses. At least 90% of every dollar we raise is spent on the issues we, collectively, care about. The Spirit of California is about doing what is good for California.
